Color with a job
A durable color system starts with roles, not shades. Define what a color is for — surface, text, accent — and the values become decisions you can defend instead of guesses you keep revisiting.
Commit to one dominant color and a single sharp accent. Spread color evenly and the hierarchy disappears.
Tokens over hex codes
Naming colors by intent lets you re-theme an entire product by changing a handful of tokens, not a thousand scattered values.
